कविता प्रतियोगिताका नियमहरु :-

१. प्रतियोगीले कविता आफ्नो क्षेत्रको संयोजकको ई-मेल अथवा सिधै केन्द्रिय संयोजक र उप संयोजकको ई-मेलमा पठाउन सक्नु हुनेछ |

२. कविताको शब्द सीमा अधिकतम दुई सय (२००) तोकिएको छ | सो भन्दा बढी शब्दका कविता    प्रतियोगितामा समावेश गरिने छैन |

३. कुनै पनि राजनैतिक पूर्वाग्रह र गालि गलौज, साम्प्रदायिक भावनालाई प्रोत्साहित    गर्ने बिचारहरु र अश्लील शब्दको प्रयोग गरिएको पाइएमा त्यस्ता कविताहरु स्वत    अस्वीकृत हुनेछन |

४. कविताको बिषय बस्तु  र कविताको स्वरूपको ( गध्य  या छन्द ) बारेमा कविहरुलाई स्वतन्त्र    छाडिएकोछ |

५. अंग्रेजी र नेपाल अधिराज्य भित्र बोलिने कुनै पनि जनजातिको भाषामा लेखिएको कविताले पनि    प्रतियोगितामा प्रवेश पाउनेछन तर त्यस्ता कविताको नेपाली रुपान्तर पनि साथमा संलग्न हुनु पर्नेछ |

६. कविता कान्तिपुर, प्रिती या मंगल फन्टमा मात्र पठाउनु पर्नेछ |

७. कविता नितान्त नया र मौलिक हुनु पर्नेछ | कविले आफ्नो रचनाका साथमा आफ्नो छोटो परिचय,    पासपोर्ट साईजको फोटो र  सम्पर्क ठेगाना पनि पठाउनु पर्नेछ |

८. प्रतियोगिताको लागि प्राप्त कविता कुनै पनि साहित्यिक संजालहरुमा संप्रेषण भएको वा पत्रपत्रिकामा पूर्व प्रकाशित भएको पाइएमा स्वत अस्वीकृत गरिने छ  |

न्यु योर्क ,मे १७ , ३१ औं एएनए सम्मेलनका संचार संयोजक सुर्य थापाले एक प्रेस बिज्ञप्ति जारी गर्दै हाल ए एन ए का मुख्य संयोजक समीर महर्जन निश्चित उदेश्यको साथ बिभिन्न ब्यक्त्तित्वहरुलाई भेटघाट गर्न तथा निमंत्रणा दिन दुई हप्ते नेपाल भ्रमणमा रहेको जानकारी दिएका छन् l उक्त बिज्ञप्तिमा जानकारी गराउदै सम्मेलनलाई ऐतिहासिक बनाउने अठोट तथा व्यापक सूचना प्रदान गर्ने उदेश्यको साथ मे १६ विहीबार काठमाडौँमा मुख्य संयोजक समीर महर्जनले एक पत्रकार सम्मेलनको आयोजना गरेका छन् । मुख्य संयोजक महर्जनले हामीलाई देशले के दियो भन्दा पनि हामीले देशलाई के दियौं भन्ने अहम् प्रश्नलाई केन्द्रविन्दुमा राखेर यसपटक अमेरिकामा रहेका नेपालीहरुले मुलुकको आर्थिक समृद्धिका लागि सोच्न लागेको बताएका छन् l

उक्त पत्रकार भेटघाट कार्यक्रममा सांस्कृतिक, साहित्यिक, सांगीतिक गतिविधि, खेलकुद, खाना महोत्सवका अलावा सांस्कृतिक परेड, प्रतिभा प्रतियोगिता प्रदर्शन, व्यान्ड प्रतिस्पर्धा (संगीत मण्डली )र गोष्ठीहरुको आयोजना गर्न लागिएको जानकारी दिए l३१ औ ए एन ए सम्मेलनमा नेपालबाट मन्त्रीस्तरीय प्रतिनिधित्व रहने बताउँदै महर्जनले नेपाल उद्योग वाणिज्य महासंघका सुरज बैद्य ,नेपाल उद्योग परिसंघ, नेपाल अमेरिका चेम्वर अफ कमर्स जस्ता संस्थाहरुको संस्थागत सहभागिता रहने पनि जानकारी दिए l  उक्त छापा बिज्ञप्तिमा संचार संयोजक थापाले उल्लेख गर्दै उद्योगपति सुरज बैध्य लगायत ८-१० जना ब्यबसायी सहित ब्यापारिक प्रबर्धन गर्न आउने निश्चित गरेको जानकारी गराईएको छ l

यसै गरि उक्त छापा बिज्ञप्तिमा संचार संयोजक सुर्य थापाले बिसेष जानकारी गराउदै सम्मेलनमा नेपालका लागि अमेरिकी राजदूत पिटर बोडेको पनि विशेष सहभागिता रहने र सम्मेलनलाई सम्बोधन गर्ने निधो भएको उल्लेख गरेका छन् l  नेपालको वर्तमान राजनैतिक अवस्था र विकास सम्बन्धिमा पनि अन्तरक्रिया कार्यक्रम समेतमा सहभागी हुन् सक्ने जानकारी दिइएको छ । उक्त सम्मेलनमा अमेरिकाका लागि नेपाली महामहिम राजदूत डा शंकर प्रसाद शर्माको पनि बिशेष सहभागिता हुने छ l उक्त पत्रकार सम्मेलनमा नेपालको भ्रमणमा रहनु भएका अवैतनिक नेपाली महावाणिज्यदूत प्ररेमराजा महतले एएनए अमेरिकामा रहेका नेपालीहरुको छाता संस्था रहेको बताउँदै यसले नेपाल र अमेरिकालाई जोड्ने भावनात्मक पुलको काम गर्दै आएको विचार व्यक्त गरेको जनाईएको छ l

एएनए नेपाल ग्रामिण विकासका  प्रमुख डा. सुदीप श्रेष्ठले एएनएको ऐतिहासिक पृष्ठभूमीको चर्चा गर्दै सन् १९८३ मा न्यूयोर्कमा स्थापना भएको अमेरिकाकै एक पुरानो संस्था भएको जानकारी दिनु भएको चर्चा गरिएको छ lनेपालमा एएनए नेपाल नामक संस्था दर्ता गरी एकलाख डलरको योजना सुरु गरेको जानकारी गराएको पनि उल्लेख गरिएको छ । र उक्त कार्यक्रममा ए एन ए नेपाल ग्रामिण विकासका शुभ चिन्तक तथा मेरो देश मेरो लगानीका संस्थापक तथा समाज सेवी महाबिर पुनको पनि उपस्थिति रहेको थियो l

यस क्रममा महर्जनले अर्थमन्त्री शंकर कोइराला, नेपालका लागि अमेरिकी राजदूत पिटर बोडे, नेपाल उद्योग वाणिज्य महासंघ, नेपाल उद्योग परिसंघको नेतृत्वसँग भेट गरी सहभागिताका लागि औपचारिक निम्तो दिनु भएको र शुभकामना सन्देशका लागि राष्टपति, सरकार प्रमुख र मूख्य राजनीतिक दलका शिर्षस्थ नेताहरुसँग पनि भेटघाट क्रमलाई अगाडि बढाइदै गरेको उल्लेख गरिएको छ l एएनएको ३० औं डालास सम्मेलन २०१२ मा पहिलो पटक अमेरिकी राष्टपति वराक ओवामाले सम्मेलनको सफलताको कामना गर्दै लिखित शुभकामना सन्देश दिनु भएको थियो । यो नेपालीप्रतिको ठूलो सम्मान र उपलव्धी हो ।

यसै गरि साहित्य अनुरागीहरुको लागि ए एन ए साहित्य प्रतिस्ठानको पहलमा अन्तरराष्ट्रिय नेपाली कविता प्रतियोगिता वरिस्ठ अधिवक्ता तथा महोत्सव संयोजक बिनोद रोकाको नेतृत्वमा कविता महोत्सवको भब्य तैयारी गरिएको जानकारी दिइएको छ lअन्तरराष्ट्रिय नेपाली कविता प्रतियोगितामा प्रथम, दोश्रो र तेश्रो स्थान प्राप्त गर्ने स्रष्टालाई प्रथम पुरस्कार एक हजार यु एस डलर र प्रमाण पत्र ,दोश्रो पुरस्कार ,तीन  सय यु एस डलर र प्रमाण पत्र र तेश्रो पुरस्कार दुई सय यु एस डलर र प्रमाण पत्र दिइने जानकारी गराईएको छ l

When people ask you- Where are you from?

If you reply ‘Nepal’, chances are you belong to the generation born/raised in Nepal and you find your identity closely tied to the Nepali culture.

If your answer is ‘Nepalese-American’, chances are your passport country may be America but you identify with the Nepalese culture primarily but also acknowledge that we need to learn/understand the American culture.

If your answer is “well, my parents are from Nepal but I am from _______, chances are you are born/raised abroad and identify yourself as a “typical American” and consider Nepal as a foreign land which your parents tell you is “your home”.

If you feel like you fall into one of these categories, you are welcome to join this page/forum. “Misunderstood” forum is all about us, by us and for us that are living in the US!!!

Why should this be of interest to us?

Culture has an overwhelming impact in our lives. It is how we get our name, form our beliefs, choose what we eat and determine how we interact and set our priorities. It is hard to detach ourselves from the culture we are brought up in because it is tied to our identity.

The [Cultural] Generation Gap:

The prominent feature of first generation immigrants is the constant feeling of being left out when life back home has gone on without them. We try to feel at home by creating our own Nepali community, getting together every once in a while to cherish the little Nepali-ness that we can afford in this foreign land.

“Daal- bhaat, tarkari, achar jasto aru kei mitho hudaina!”

For people who have lived in Nepal for the most parts before moving abroad, there will always be a part that is far away while they try to assimilate to the new culture. There is this constant feeling which lies dormant until they can breathe in the country where they belong.

“Deusi and bhailo song makes me nostalgic”.

“MOMO is the best food EVER. Myaaan, how much I miss home!”

“Arko dashain ma ta sure ghar janchu!”

Parents often dictate their children to do things “their” way in an effort to teach them Nepali culture, language, moral values and ways of behaviour.

“You have to speak Nepali at home, English ta school ma sikihalcha ni!”

“You cannot wear that dress, it is not appropriate for our culture!”

“You have to eat this food; this is “our food”!”

“My children do not care about Nepali culture. I don’t know how to teach them Nepali language.”

Finding Self-

But, for the first generation Nepali-Americans (born/raised in the US), the definition of home, culture, and belonging is different. The new generation (for the most part) tend to develop their identities while living abroad, away from the parent’s culture so it is not fair to expect them to have the same connection to the home culture as their parents. Often times, parents try to impose their “home culture” onto their children but fail to understand the challenges that their kids may be facing to adjust in the US- ‘their home country’. (Imagine how embarrassing IT IS to be having rice and daal for lunch when most kids in school are having pizzas and burgers).

Though the Nepali culture is the first culture introduced to them at home, once they start school the kids are trained to be American, They cannot completely be Nepali nor are they allowed being totally American. They may weave both of the cultures together while growing up but end up having full ownership of none.

“My parents don’t understand me, I don’t understand them.”

“They keep forcing me to learn Nepali language/culture while I already have English, Math, and Spanish etc to learn.”

“They don’t ask me what I want or how I would like to learn Nepali culture.”

“They don’t understand how hard it is just being “that immigrant kid” in the classroom.”

“I hate going to the Nepali events because I don’t even understand the language and nobody explains to me why people dance like butterflies at Nepali parties.”

“My parents won’t allow me to go to movies with my friends because they don’t look like me.”

Communication plays an important role in the passing of culture between immigrant parents and their first generation Nepali-American children. “Misunderstood” is the forum where we invite ideas and suggestions that may help us weave both Nepali and American cultures in a more effective way so that the generations after us will be able to understand and practice the Nepali values as well as belong to the mainstream American culture, because the US is after all where their home is.

Dr. Dina Bangdel dedicated works on arts and ritual tradition of Buddhism and specially Tantric Buddhist iconography of the Himalayan region, principally Nepal has been recognized by the Nepalis and Nepal, as the greatest intellectual contribution ever made on Nepali Buddhism.

संयोजक महर्जनका अनुसार यस पटकको सम्मेलन बिगतका भन्दा फरक र ऐतिहासीक बनाउनको लागी आयोजक समितीले कुनै कसर नछोड्ने प्रतिबद्दता जाहेर गरेका छन् । साथै एनए सम्मेलनलाई थप उपलब्धीमुलक बनाउन न्युयोर्क शहरको भ्रमण तथा सम्मेलनलाई थप सहयोग गर्ने उद्धेश्यका साथ आयोजक समितीमा बिजय सिंह र दिपेन्द्र केसीलाई थप गरिएको बिज्ञप्तीमा जनाइएको छ। बिज्ञप्तीका अनुसार एएनए सम्मेलनको आधिकारिक (संजाल )वेभसाईट anany2013.org मा सम्मेलन सम्बन्धी सम्पुर्ण जानकारी सहित दर्ता (रजिष्ट्रेशन )खुल्ला भएको जनाइएको छ ।

साथै अदम्य साहस ,अभूतपूर्व आत्म विश्वास र दृढ संकल्पको साथ पत्रकार लामिछानेले देखाउनु भएको मार्ग र संदेश प्रति हामी ए एन ए परिवार मात्र नभै स्वदेश तथा बिश्वमा यत्र तत्र छरिएर रहेका तमाम हरेक स्वाभिमानी नेपालीहरु यहाले गरेको असल र बिसेष उदेश्यलाई प्राप्ति गर्नु भएकोमा हर्ष बिभोर हुनुको साथै शिर उच्च पारेका छौ lभगवान गौतम बुद्धको जन्मस्थल लुम्बिनी र सगरमाथाका बिषयमा अनाबश्यक दिग्भ्रम सिर्जना गरिरहेको सन्दर्भमा त्यसलाई निस्तेज पार्नका लागि यहाले गरेको ठोस कदम प्रति हामी नतमस्तक छौ l
