Notice:

1. Any updated addresses for the ANA members with ID received by June 15 will be mailed the ballot. It will not be possible to do after
that because the return ballot has to be postmarked by June 20.
2. All the ballots recieved by the Election Commisioner will be put in one place with envelope unopened and the final count of the ballot will
be posted on this site.
3. The ballots will be opened in front of the candidates or their representatives during the ANA Convention at the Oakland Convention
Center on Thursday July 2, 2009.

NEPCAN Award

Association of Nepalis in Americas proudly announces the Presidential Award of Excellence, the NEPCAN award. ANA’s Presidential Award of Excellence is the highest recognition given out every year, starting 2009, during ANA’s annual convention to an individual or a group supporting the mission and vision of ANA.

ANA Mission

¢ The purpose of the exclusively educational and charitable Association of Nepalis in the Americas is to promote preservation of Nepali identity and culture in the Americas, to foster cordial relations among Nepalis and Americans, and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the participation of Nepali-Americans in the communities they live in. ANA also promotes cultural, religious, linguistic, historical, and educational heritage of Nepal.

Eligibility

¢ Any individual or group from the Americas is eligible to be the recipient of this award.

¢ The recipient or group must not be a prior recipient of this award.

¢ ANA past presidents and current officers are not eligible for this award.

¢ Awardees must serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in their area of work/expertise.

Selection Process

¢ A committee comprising of the past presidents of ANA and the current officers will nominate the recipient from among the Diaspora.

¢ Nominations will have to accompany a detailed profile of the nominee(s) and description of the work performed by the nominee(s).

¢ The committee may decide to choose the recipient from the nominees at their discretion. Opinion polls and/or other methods may be used to find out the best candidate(s).

The Award


¢ The recipient(s) will receive a plaque and a cash award of $1500 . The cash award amount will be fixed and will be awarded to an individual or the group.

ANA Election 2009

Notice of election 2009 Nomination committee of ANA is seeking nominations for the following officers; President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer, Information Director Paid members of ANA are requested to nominate candidates of their choice. Rules for the nominations are as follows;

  • Each officer is nominated and seconded individually by paid members of ANA.
  • No slate nomination will be accepted.
  • To run for a position, one must have been a member of the ANA executive board and must have paid the membership dues for at least 1 year prior to the nomination. This includes members of the current executive team and all the past executives since the inception of ANA.
