Potential for Tourism Development in Nepal

Travel and Tourism is the vehicle to discovery, social and economic integration and the interconnection of the world. It is all known that tourism as the fastest growing industry with a high potential for the economic strength of any country. Nepal has a lot to offer in terms of tourism; however the country has continued to rely on the traditional and limited resources and markets to grow the industry. Product diversification and creation of new markets are the keys to the growth of Nepalese tourism. Recently, the government of Nepal has announced Visit Nepal year 2011 with the aim of attracting one million international visitors. This number seems pretty ambitious because during a similar campaign in 1998, Nepal hosted only 464,000 tourists, earning US$ 24.8 million in revenue. However, we all need to support Visit Nepal Year 2011campaign to strengthen a tourism in Nepal.

In this scenario, what is the potential for the tourism in Nepal? How can Association of
the Nepalis in the Americas(ANA) help in this nationwide campaign of Visit Nepal Y
ear 2011? Time has come again. Whatever we can do for Nepal that makes a difference.
Every our efforts will be a great help for Nepal. Always, we need to grow together. B
y understanding this truth, ANA has set the following objectives for the tourism development
in Nepal:

Nepal Tourism Board & Nepalese Embassy in Washington, DC.
Build Visit Nepal as the strongest brand name in North America.
Work together with the tourism entrepreneurs in US and abroad.
Encourage Nepali American travel entrepreneurs in North America & working together for
greater collective goal.
Provide updated, accurate and extensive information on Nepal with the help of Nepalese
Embassy in US & Nepal Tourism Board.
